The Asano Clinic and Japanese Style Acupuncture

Acupuncture is considered an Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) regulatory therapy. The internal target for the placement of acupuncture needles is the ANS. Traditional acupuncture points correspond closely to the various dermatomes of the spinal nerves and trigger points . Accurate stimulation or sedation of those points can affect the activity individual components of the ANS, and thus restore healthy homeostatic function of the body. The ANS is also the main recipient of external stress and stressors. Stress can cause a chain reaction of imbalance in the system which will lead to disease. Thus by inserting acupuncture needles at the right points, the ANS can be manipulated to re-balance the physiologic systems and maintain life’s dynamic equilibrium (homeostasis).

This particular science and method of acupuncture has been taught (at Meji Universtiy? -jg ) and used in Japan(alongside western medicine? in hostpitals? with MDs? -jg) for 50 years with great success. (any online references we can link to? -jg)

The ANS is responsible for contolling nearly all physiological functions in the body, especially the cardio-vascular system. Proper acupuncture stimulation activates arterial micro-circulation, and thus the oxidation and distribution of nutrients to targeted tissue and cells. The improved circulation will resuscitate the nutrient balance of the cell, which in turn will cause the mitochondria to increase production of adenosine tri-phosphate (ATP), the most fundamental physiologic source of energy in the body. ATP is considered the primary source of energy to heal and remodel the injured cells and tissues.

At Asano Acupuncture, needles may by used alone, or in combination with heat (moxibustion), infrared light, electricity/magnetic stimulation, and Qi-gong/bio energy as well as phytonutrients, herbs, and minerals to optimize the effect of stimulation to the body. We have been practicing this methodology for over 30 years and have observed it's effectiveness at treating a variety of illness.

The concepts of acupuncture and oriental medicine are not about treating particular diseases based on the differential diagnosis, rather they stimulate and energize the fundamental functions of the body, allowing the body to restore its natural balance of health.
